BD

"When we got our Bernedoodle puppy we felt we and she needed some training. Asked around and did some research and learned of Grateful Dog Training. We and "BD" went there to meet each other. Was very impressed and started with some training. From there we did their Board and Train. What a great way to jump start our puppys training. She is their home overnight and part of their family and back to Grateful Dog during the day. Sending pictures and updates all the time. From there we have done a couple of more weekly classes. Our "BD" has learned as well as we have learned. Caroline, Cassidy and Steph are such great caring people and their love of animals shines through! We are in a class now, once a week and go into businesses with our dogs as well as walking around town to "meet and greet". Great socialization for our dogs. Would highly recommend Grateful Dog for training!" - Rich L.

SULLY

"I have an energetic and enthusiastic young Labrador Retriever who has trained with Grateful Dog. Caroline, Cassidy, and crew have worked wonders with him, turning a wild puppy into a grown-up Good Boy. Their experience, kindness, and obvious love of dogs and extensive understanding of dog behavior made the whole process so rewarding for Sully and me. The best part is I have gained a dog I can now explore and adventure with, enriching both our lives beyond my dreams. Beyond his basic training work, Grateful Dog’s agility and rally obedience programs have opened up fun and exciting new ways to share my life with my dog; but the most satisfying part is the friendly and positive coaching they’ve given me that has improved my own training and handling skills exponentially. Anyone with a dog would benefit from one or more training courses at Grateful Dog. It’s hard for me to express the depth of my emotions about my experience with Grateful Dog and the wonderful people I’ve worked with there. You guys absolutely rock!" - Phil M.

YARROW

"We started going to the Grateful Dog when Yarrow, our female, Yellow Labrador was 10 weeks old.  Our goal was to have her grow into a happy, well adjusted dog that could go anywhere with us.  Yarrow was a high energy puppy and displayed some anxiety. As of this writing, she is 13 months old and a total joy.   Yarrow hikes in the woods with us and has excellent recall, even when we encounter deer, turkeys, or other people and dogs. We can take her on leash to town and inside shops.  She is friendly and plays well with other dogs.  We recently took in a stray kitten and Yarrow is gentle and does not chase. While the direct day training was extremely effective, we found great value in the coaching we received in group classes on how to handle our dog. We now participate in Rally and Agility Training classes which are fun and a great way to reinforce basic training while building new skills and furthering the bond we have with our dog. Caroline, Cassidy and the team at Grateful Dog are wonderful resources for us as Yarrow matures." - Lynn B.

CURLEY

"We are so lucky to have found Caroline, Cassidy, and everyone at Grateful Dog. They are simply incredible trainers and are so loving and attentive to Curley and all his friends. We were pretty inexperienced puppy parents, and their human and puppy training (all positive reinforcement) was incredible for getting us all on the same page. And their daycare is the best--truly Curley's home away from home." - Susanna G.

LUCKY

"Years before Covid hit I impulsively got a puppy and then I remembered my last dogs were rescues fully out of all the puppy stages and I needed help! After one call with Grateful Dog I knew I had found the help I needed. Almost 4 years later Lucky still considers Grateful Dog his second home. He loves coming to his doggie day care days and yes even the occasional brush up training on his manners. Because just like kids it’s a process and Caroline and Cassidy understand this and is always there to help, offer advice and training. I would highly recommend them to all new and old dog parents out there." - Peg D.

BELLA

"Bella and I started with puppy class at Grateful Dog in the summer when she was just 10 weeks old.  We learned a lot in the first month, but it was clear we both needed more tuition.  So, now months later, with more classes, and train & daycare, and now 2 days a week of daycare, Bella at 8 months is becoming a model citizen.  She also has made fast friends both canine and human, and I’ve added words to my vocabulary - puppy daycare, puppy friends, puppy play dates.  I cannot recommend highly enough the care and dog wisdom and training that Carolyn, Cassidy, Leta, and all the Grateful Dog crew dispense daily.  Thank you." - Consie W.

BUZZY

"I had Caroline Edgar come to my home probably about 12-13 years ago to help us learn clicker training with our nervous and fearful rescued malti-poo Buzzy. (He is a bit stiff now, deaf and almost blind, but still playing and thriving!). I just wanted to say what a difference clicker training has made in my life and my animals' lives. We now just have two very senior dogs, Buzzy and a recently rescued 13-14 year old Chihuahua Jazzy. Jazzy knew absolutely no commands and I used clicker training to teach her sit, stay, etc. and then we went on to earn her Novice Trick Dog title through Do More With Your Dog (15 tricks).  I also taught my previous horse a few tricks through clicker training, but the most exciting thing is that my current horse Stewie has earned 11 titles through Do More With Your Dog (yes they are dog tricks).

He has Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert as well as Masters of each of those and Champion, Grand Champion and Champion Masters which that last title required 101 tricks.

I am such a big fan of positive reinforcement and clicker training and the unbelievable results. Best of all the animals truly enjoy it and love doing their tricks. I'm retired now and having the ability to play with my animals like this gives me something to look forward to each day. I spread the word about clicker training and positive reinforcement whenever I can. I'm so grateful that you came all the way out to help us those many years ago. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills."  - Mary B.

SUNNY

"I was totally out of my element with my lab puppy, but after our very first session with Caroline, I knew we would be ok.  And, thanks to Caroline, Cassidy, and the rest of the Grateful Dog team, after progressing through their training program we are more than ok - my dog is absolutely awesome.  These incredibly kind, fair trainers really know how to bring out the best in a dog.  Whether you want a well-rounded dog who you can take anywhere or are interested in dog sports and other higher-level activities, you'll have a fantastic experience at Grateful Dog. Take it from a very grateful owner." - Rebecca B.

"I just wanted to thank you and your whole team for working with Sunny over the last two months. The improvements he’s made are unbelievable in comparison to the first day I brought him in for our initial lesson. You guys rock!!! Thank you all so much for your care and patience with my boy, I know he’s a handful but I could tell how excited he was to get there each day." - Harley S.

TULIP

"I love Grateful Dog. All staff members are knowledgeable and kind, and our dog is in the best hands. She has attended puppy training classes (with us), daycare and day training. We as dog owners have learned so much and I feel so much more equipped in raising our rescue puppy who has challenges that I’ve never dealt with in my previous dogs. Highly recommend!" - Tracy R.

FRENCHIE

"For the last twelve years, Grateful Dog has meant so much more to me than just day care for my dogs. I came to dog ownership as an adult so Caroline and Cassidy have been available fo all my “dog rearing” issues from helping me choose a dog to explaining health and behavioral issues. Their group classes have been so much fun for me and my dog Frenchie; a high energy Staffy. The classes have also given me the confidence to learn how to train my dog correctly by myself. I trust them completely and Frenchie and I have come to view them as extended family. Whenever I drive by GD, Frenchie howls if I don’t turn into the road where they are located."            - Carmel F.

WILL

"Grateful Dog started us out with solid, basic training, ultimately leading to Will's CGC certificate.  Now we both look forward to our agility and other classes in this friendly and welcoming environment.  Over the last few years, we have built strong bonds with the teachers, other dogs, dog parents and each other while learning and having fun." - Shari

BABS

"Grateful Dog literally saved me and my dog. I adopted a cattle dog mix puppy 3 years ago and she was really unmanageable. Barking and lunging at literally everything. Caroline and Cassidy worked with her intensively, not only basic obedience training but reactivity training and fun stuff like agility. Babs, my dog, goes nuts with happiness when she sees the staff at Grateful Dog. This place is the best." - Chelsea K.
