Caroline Edgar Albert- Owner & Trainer, KPA-CTP
Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner
Caroline’s passion has always been animals. Growing up on a small Vermont gentleman's farm she bottle fed lambs, tended the chickens and rode bareback for miles on old logging roads. Her early love of horses morphed into an equine profession, teaching horseback riding and training young sport horses in Southern Vermont and Eastern Pennsylvania.
In 1998, in an effort to return to her roots of reward based training, Caroline began experimenting with mark and reward training (a.k.a. clicker training). Having spent years in the traditional horse training world, she was thrilled to find a humane method based on the science of how animals learn - all animals. Mark and reward training was so intrinsically reinforcing that the animals chose to participate voluntarily. The method built trust and understanding between both the teacher and learner.
Seeking further education, Caroline turned to the Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Behavior where she graduated with distinction in 2009. She is dedicated to the welfare of all animals and enjoys being part of the unique bonds that develop between people and their pets. Caroline has a special interest in early learning and socialization; believing as caregivers we are responsible for preparing our animals for a lifetime spent with people.
Grateful Dog Training, Inc. was opened with the intent to provide exceptional training and care for pet dogs and their owners, and is lovingly dedicated in the memory of Stella, the Australian Cattle Dog who helped inspire Caroline's quest for aversive free training.

Sarah Karczmarczyk
Born in Alaska, Sarah grew up surrounded by animals, both domesticated and wild. Having four cats and three boxers throughout her childhood of many moves (she's lived in AK, MA, ME, CT, WA, and VT) she understands how special, and important, the bond of love and companionship with pets can be. Their love is powerful, but it is their trust that stands sacred. If you can earn their trust, you've made a friend for life. Sarah splits her time between working the switchboard at Rutland Regional Medical Center and herding puppies at the Grateful Dog. Sarah finds genuine joy in building a special connection, and friendship with each of the dogs here.
